Engineer folie à deux" V Machinist- MAIALI

I have only been back for a min and the need to go to pointless drivel is strong

    https://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=522339

    Engineers

    In particular one type

    Machinist- MAIALI ( Gelded grunter)

You can spot these by their subtle use of the language and their skilled adaptive approaches to new methods such as "the slate tablet "

very skilled at machining big bits into small bits and has been doing this way since Adam struggled with puberty

We compare this to the "Engineer folie à deux"

Quote " This is not a trivial problem to solve.

If you think about the physics, the oil will exit the nozzle as a liquid stream ... fine so far. But what happens next? Does it remain a coherent stream (think of a garden hose set to a really low flow rate), or does it atomise (break up into a droplet spray?
This depends on the Capillarity number and Ohnsorge numbers ... which depend on the fluid mechanical properties. My guess is that it will probably break up, so you'll then need to model a spray of droplets, with an appropriate size distribution. You can probably ignore evaporation, since you're calling it oil, i.e. I assume that it's way below its flash point. Regardless, simulating the above is not a simple look-see calculation."

    FFS

From the fabulous Blues Brothers "
You know, people, when you do find somebody
Hold that machinist, hold that Engineer
be nice to him, please him,
Because it’s so important to have that special somebody"

That knows what the fk they are doing and has social skills

    Rant over

This version of the engineering subset of humanity is more commonly known as a "Barry"

You would appear to have asked your inital question on a forum made for and populated by Barrys.

20ml per hour should do it.

Just for a laugh you should throw the KTM camshaft issue at them now there are several videos that have sourced the core issue.

Harland and Woolf was in Belfast

Me mums family are from belfast

So as you can see there is a clear link between the two

    Barry and Engineering

    hahahaa very witty very good

I went for a ride today with all mods done on bike ,,oil passages, pumps all doing what they should

increased rocker feed from 6 to 11mm dia and reduced oil pressure to 2/5th of fk all Quantity over quality ! you can hear the difference

also, im getting seepage ( an age thing) from the timing case screws which suggests all is good possibly a little 2 good

    See how it goes

    Yes similar issue
The video about KTMs issues the oil "jet THREAD " not the misalignment of passages, the oil jet thread looks like its blocking the oil feed either wat the Sliding bearing ,( camshaft ) is in boundary and alternating surface contact stress The engine looks like its been designed by an ENGINEER on a CAD station

Actually, I rode the modified bike today you can hear the difference

You pick up knowledge as you go through life. Important stuff I've learnt is that Z1s had practically "0"psi oil pressure, especially if you restricted the feed to the engine to help out a turbo. They flowed heaps, had no pressure, and the cams ran directly in the head with no problems. FZR250s have 60psi oil pressure but have about 1mm restrictors in the supply to the head. I also put a slightly smaller restrictor to the supply to the turbo. Everything is oily as and so far there has been absolutely no lubrication problems. I'm guessing the KTM problem is a design or material issue.

WRT to pressure vs volume - KLR650s have an all rolling element crank, just like two strokes which get by pretty well on 40:1 gas/oil mix. However the standard setup supplies far too much oil to the crank which aggravates the tendency to burn oil, rings cannot cope with volume coming off the crank. and starves the cylinder head where cams run direct in head plain bearings. (head oiling is not helped by tiny little holes in oil pipe banjos) This was extenively tested and results favour restricting oil to the crank in favour of the head. https://www.souperdoo.com/stuff%20th...ht-oil-burning
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.
