    Bartercard.

I have one of my bikes on TM at the moment. Listed for 8k expecting at best to be offered 7 which I would take.
A guy in rangiora has offered to pay me the equivalent of full price in either Bartercard or Qoin. He seems keen but this is a complete unknown to me. I quickly researched Bcard but it seems to be set up solely for business traders and I cannot work out if it is a viable option or just dodgy…
Anyone able to shed some light? Thanks, Al

I wouldn't. The issue isn't really whether or not you get your money's worth it's that you end up with $8k of bartercard points. How do you turn those into some DJ Cash money, or exchange them for goods and services of equivalent value - what do they have that you need. I'd be looking at the website to see where you can spend it and on what.

It strikes me as crypto-currency but from the 1990's. YMMV

Having said all that - it does appear as if Calendar Girls in Auckland takes it (thank you google) so job's on!

Barter card was quite popular back in day mostly for rural type businesses eg Farmlands store or Williams and Kettle.
The other thing sounds crypto tho….
8k should buy enough woolly socks and barbed wire at FL to get through the looming power crisis blackouts and winter riots.

So….that would be 8k worth of entry, food and drinks but no happy ending!

I am very soon going to be spending 10k or more on concrete tho…🤔🤔🤔
will have to do some research…

Bartercard would be something Mashman would propose.

So how did he supposedly end up with that much on bartandlisa card?

No. Didn't think of a very convincing answer either.
Don't you look at my accountant.

A friend of ours owns a motel, he has bartercard as a form of payment and recently bought his daughters first car using bartercard for $13,000.

I hear you OAB. But tbh the desire to sell a [insert object like bike] makes you a good target.

I'm selling a bike and several watching but no bites. When do I get hungry?

Sold my van with (fully disclosed) issues for cheap cheap.
The amount of muppetry at that level is. . . well, predictable, but still frustrating.

I'd be telling him to find some real adult money before someone else does.

Oh yeah you'd want to treat any transaction with it with caution but some people do make decent sized purchases on it (normally trade to trade as in my friends example) with no issues. I'd rather real money though too.

I wonder if I am the only one he is trying to fob off his bartercard credit on to?

Generally anything except real currency is a PITA to figure out/use/find somewhere that will take it. Just like prezzy cards on a small scale. Take real money, and trade it for fake money with more T&Cs and it expires.

If you're prepared to do that, or have an avenue to spend it, then yeah, but I'd be making it plain that an alternative form of payment gets less discount in lieu of the additional T&Cs.
