    IoM TT 2023

I may have missed it, but couldn't find a thread on this.

I'm watching it on TT+ this year as Sky take days to show the highlights. But pleased I did as you get to see the whole race. The Superbike race took the best part of 2 hours! I might even watch the Senior live with my son who's in London.

There was news today of a death on the Island, a Spanish rider. They said his death was the 26th since 1907. I don't think so Tim.

Yes ,heard they had the first death this year on the News this morning.

I believe they mentioned 6 died last year ??????

Always dreamed of having a go,but never did. Closest I came was Dave Hiscock asked me to go to England with him in about 81' as his spanner man. But as I said to him ,I have 3 kids and a career in the Police.... I knew where that would lead, just being there with him.
Dave did really well at the TT let alone Pommy Superbikes and Production.

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..

Thassit. I see in the Guardian that the actual figure is 267.

    Cool invite from Hiscock.

Yes, 6 died last year. Some safety improvements were made for this year, but there's really not much they can do in many places.

    Good racing so far.

Yes it was pritch, I knew it would be fun but possible trouble too ?? lol. He ended up taking Bill Biber another one of ours mates, but they had a domestic hahaha and Bill came home.
Dave is a very (still is) focussed bloke. Caught up a while ago when he came back from Newcastle to attend Barbara Letts Funeral.

Hickman's in the groove. New lap record - and on the Superstock bike too. Any bets against him running that in the F1 ?

yeah he rang me and said he was going up for the day looking for a ride, i said we'll go up for the night as there'll be some people to catch up with and it worked well. He was back for Yolande's funeral too between then and now too. He's right in the middle of building a new house, he never stops

I'm still in awe of Hicky's lap record on the Superstock.

Both superstock and the F1 bikes of all the main makes have enough power and handling to break the record.

It seems to come down to how the rider is feeling on the day. Hicky's record was set in less than ideal weather - bit of a wind blowing.

Must have got up feeling good, correct breakfast (whatever that is) and raring to go. Dunlop appears to have outthought himself on the F1.

He said in the post-race interview that MD was quite close and he wanted to open up the gap. That only took him a couple of sectors and he just kept going.

Over a week's worth of rubber on the roads probably helped also.
