Hi,
Just finished rebuilding my GN250 cafferacer (still find it odd to mention GN & racer in the same sentence...) , as part of the rebuild I replaced the old battery with a new lithium one.
I noticed that the battery is not charging.
Checked the current and resistance on the regulator rectifier which in most cases is the primary fault, and it does work according to specs.
Checked the rectifier itself, resistance between coils = 0.5 Ohms , within specs. No Short to body. Also within specs.
Checked the charge coming out of the rectifier end while at 5000 rpm, and got a few millivolts (AC) on each stator coil, barely 500 millivolts - consistent on each coil = No good.
Cleaned all connectors and checked for continuity, all signs are OK.
I was told by the local mechanic that the problem could be the magnet flywheel having lost it's magnetic strength but he is not sure since he never encountered such a problem with flywheels before.
Any suggestions ?
