    Snowrunner

Anyone else playing Snowrunner or the prev game mudrunner?

Such a cool game and so frustrating st same time.
The physical mechanics of the simulation aspect has been done great, must be a real mission for designers.

Yea I'm playing Mudrunner (twas free on teh EPIC store)
Have eyed up the Spintires series ever since their announcement but was never sure enough to pull the trigger, after my free introduction thanks to EPIC I'll probably buy Snowrunner too
I enjoy the game but it is slow & tedious, ya gotta be into the mechanics to enjoy the game I reckon cause you ain't just going for a cruise through the woods ya gotta work for progression, slog through the mud.
I like offroad/4WD so this is itching a fix for me, especially since my 4WD is in pieces at the mo.

Fuel economy's a bit up the shit tho... 20-30L/min I'd be broke in a day with that kinda consumption

I played MudRunner when it first came out and enjoyed it but now VR has ruined flatscreen driving games for me.

Add me to the list of those that have found Snowrunner surprisingly addictive. Might have been a period where I kinda spent a lot of consecutive hours in it. Usually started with, I'll just drop off a couple of units and call it a night. 4 recovery vehicles later and there is no way I can leave before I've delivered.

The /r on Snowrunner is also pretty funny.

Currently playing in Lake Kovd, I've finally been able to slow my play rate down a bit, just picked it up again last night, still have time flying by, but I hadn't played in weeks. Looking forward to Canada as well, but will work chronologically without skipping. Packed a truck on a truck last night, that was cool, one of the vehicles that had to be recovered.

Cheers guys couple of tips I’ve found to save frustration...
Doing tasks/missions of you don’t deliver the stuff in right order it just doesn’t recognise that you’ve done the work.
Also if you’ve loaded cargo with crane but didn’t select pack the computer thinks it’s not on your truck when you get somewhere.
YouTube channel A Tribe Called Cars has great advice.
Yeah it’s definitely something g you’ve got to slog through a bit at a time

Some missions require equipment in the right order to unlock the next delivery or stage. Others just have a list of required units.
Make sure you're tracking the mission when delivering etc. If you're tracking something else it won't trigger.
Delivering recovered vehicles, it basically expects a winch. If you have it on the back of a flat bed etc, you just have to attach the winch to it.
Always pack your cargo, it stays on a bit longer. Use sideboard beds as cargo stays in more. Slides off flatbeds more easily, but flatbeds have a lower CoG.

Depends on how long you've been playing, this advice could be useless...

    - Even in auto gearbox, a quick tap of the shift key (for PC, don't know what consoles are, but you use it to move around the gearbox) may nudge the gearbox into a better gear, sometimes the vehicles hold the wrong gear too long.
    - Don't leave in auto all the time, using low, sometimes in conjunction with diff lock will give better progress/fuel economy/both. Conversely, don't use AWD when you don't need it. Managing fuel can be crucial at times, had many cases of rocking up to fuel with <10L left. Also, letting the vehicle spin it's tires in auto instead of low can cause you to get bogged, rather than dropping into low, using less fuel and slowly crawling your way through.
    - Tyre selection as you may have realised is massive. This has been quite handy in figuring out exactly which tyre to run: https://www.reddit.com/r/snowrunner/...ween_the_tire/ Chains in mud are better than nothing, not as good as mud tyres obviously, but on some maps you have to tackle mud and ice in one trip. The Kola peninsula for example has icy climbs the big fat tyres do nothing on.
    - The game is excellent on mechanics from the point of view of drive wheels, the effect of accessoring vehicles, towing trailers etc. Add a big 3.8 crane to an american truck, and it gets more tippy. Raise it, gets more tippy. The Russian IM50 crane is lighter weight, less reach etc, so accessories vary from one regions truck to another.
    - Line selection can make all the difference. Got the F750 stuck today, wouldn't go forward or back, thought the section was impassible for it in it's config, but when I pushed it back and changed the line, there was no issue.
    - When getting stuck, don't forget even turning your wheels from side to side can help. Unhitch trailers, winch from different points etc.
    - Master the quick winch, sometimes the difference between rolling and saving it. Invariably however, it will attach to the wrong thing, but sometimes you get lucky.

Don't play if you have to be somewhere shortly

Going slow has never been more satisfying. The smile on your face when you can see that you're still moving forward a mm at a time

And then the frustrating bit... rolling at the same shitty uneven bog for the umpteenth time, sending the 4th recovery vehicle to the increasing pile up... Not paying attention and grinding it out to the wrong delivery location with the wrong load...

And yet, in some sick way, still addicted.

May as well add some pics.

    - How I used to deliver cars
    - How I now deliver cars
    - Trucks aren't quite as easy
    - The game is pretty stunning
    - With immense skill, you can manage to have a train fall in different directions.

Cool I need to relearn how to post pics in here, haven't done in so long I'm lost....

I'm in heaven after downloading latest update enabling console modes.

Some awesome nerd out there made a Peterbilt 379 chassis with 70 ton rotator wrecker body add on. It lifts anything and has ridiculous mod tyres of all sorts instantly available.
Just be aware the "three slot" tilt tray flatbed doesn't carry three slots of cargo.
And the wrecker body can't tow a trailer which is crap.
