    eek Auckland Stores

    Hey Ya'll,

I've been wading through the threads, looking for an answer to "Where in Auckland should I go and buy all my stuff?".

I am about to buy a new bike and all my old gear is gone... so I'm buying helmets, jackets, pants, boots, gloves, bling, yada yada... (Cruising / commuting gear)

I would dearly love to walk into a store in Auckland, wander around with the trustworthy, experienced retail person, get schooled on the right stuff for me & my budget, and then swipe my card and walk away a whole lot poorer. ...maybe even with a discount for buying so much stuff.

...but I get the feeling it's just not that easy and I have to go buy a quick lid, then research on the web and ride around the dozen or so shops once or twice.

If you were going to walk into 1 shop in Auckland to kit out a couple of good looking cats, where would you go!?

edit: Clear answer here, with 7 positive votes and 1 negative is.... Motomail!
(also lots of good reviews on the google and a pretty good e-store)

It's a few years since I've been based in Auckland but Motomail were pretty good last time I used them. They had a good choice and the person I dealt with seemed to be fairly clued-up about their gear. Up on College Hill if memory serves.

Motomail in town or the plethora of bike shops on Le Shore in Takapunakaiki

    Motomail on College Hill.
Or Barry's Point Rd has a few bike shops, Cycletreads being one of those worth a visit.

    Thx team.
There's a couple of obvious omissions so far which is helpful
I read a few people (here) saying that Motomail was particularly expensive.

Barry's Point Rd is certainly the boulevard of bikes - spoilt for choice.

For riding gear, Motomail is hard to beat as a one-stop-shop.

For a bike, Barrys Point Rd is where I'd be starting.

you may jest but harley riders do spend money so they are well stocked with stuff.
helmets will be more matt black than bright and the riding apparal will be harley franchised and heavily orientated to leather so not really the best selection

You can get 10% off at Motomail by joining their loyalty scheme. If you buy a full set of gear, I expect they will do better than that.

The staff are good, they certainly make an effort to help unlike some other places I can think of.

How much is a return flight to Straya this week? If you are buying all that gear it might be worth pricing a trip given the discounts some airlines are offering due to the chicken flu.

Motomail sucks farts out of dead dogs. Go to Boyds in Hamilton, it's worth the trip.
