Why?
The lights on the front and back of motor vehicles have been called headlights and tail lights for well over 100 years.
Admittedly, after some clever crunt came up with the idea of taping a torch/flashlight to his/her head to keep hands free has created a new subject for the
term, but that doesn't change the fact that I was referring to said lights at the front.
