It seems to me that what matters is not speed itself, but the pleasure of speed.
It's the difference between enjoying it within the law ... and enjoying it in spite of the law.
Death can spoil both groups enjoyment.
Death occurs when one party does it wrong.
Speeding isn't always the cause of death ... it can just turn a bad situation into ... a fatal situation.
Calling it luck (or skill) is the survivors call. The honest one's call it luck.
