I reckon scrambler would best suit it, or flat tracker. It doesn't really have the geometry for a cafe racer IMO
I've done this bike for around $1k, incl. the original bike, an engine rebuild and more fucking around than you'd think possible, it's kind of cafe-esque. Click image for larger version.

I agree, I'll probably go down the scrambler route. I'll work on some new designs tonight and see what I can come up with.

I think if you're not going down the route of changing wheels, then it'll look a much better as the scrambler

That Harley thing looks quite tight, and the bodywork you'd have to adapt/make is pretty simple

I love the XR750, was an excellent looking beast. It'd be a simple tail swap job.
I was considering doing that to the GN, but went a little cheap instead.

Scramblers are the shizz and there aren't enough around.
If you do go scrambler, I reckon a nice polished header on that thing will look awesomesauce

If you are leaving the side covers off (which I suggest you do) you should go ape shit with a grinder and take all of the mounts off. Would look so much tidier after a touch of paint. Make the area under the seat look empty.

I've made some side covers, little cute alloy ones, just to hide the bright yellow battery
I'll have the underseat area as bare as fuck when I ditch the battery

Go at the battery with a vivid haha. Good shit, matching the tank and guards?

Is it a full side cover or just like the top half? (Top half only might look cool for hiding the air filter and keeping the bare look?).

That was exactly what I was thinking! Looks mint with the black in it.

When it has the 600 in it, it will still be registered as a 250 right?

Bah, here in my workshop we spray paint the suckers black and then verbally abuse them with a good "Fuck you" before putting them back into the bike.

Dare I say it, but these are rather custom bits of kit (the Duke more so)
That Duke's running a mod frame, different wheels/forks, 999 tank/tail, SV tail light, VROD headlight blah de blah, hugely custom and IMO a slice of perfection
But, I own a 589cc GN, so whadda I know

    Rather likey this pic
